One of the industry’s most famous hardware brands is planning to think big in 2018 as it prepares itself for a ‘brave new world’.
2017 has been a whirlwind year for the company, seeing the launch of a robotic bi-folding door testing rig (nicknamed Balotelli for its unpredictability during development), the launch of new products and continued growth.
Founded in 1888, Caldwell is a window and door hardware manufacturer and supplier with its UK base in Coventry. Throughout its history, the company has engineered many industry firsts, including the first spiral balance.
2017 also saw the introduction of a new robotic bi-fold testing facility on Caldwell’s factory floor as well as several newly-enhanced products, including the Ultra Lift 6 and the Torso II spring balances.
“Despite the uncertainties surrounding Brexit and the weakening of the pound, Caldwell has had an incredibly positive year, seeing us bring new customers on board and our existing customer base grow,” says UK managing director, David Walker.
Caldwell plans to keep up this momentum going into 2018 and beyond, with innovative new products set to be brought to market as the company prepares its customers for a ‘brave new world’ that embraces advances in technology and AI.
In 2018, Caldwell will also team up with GM Fundraising as the company makes this organisation its charity of choice.
GM Fundraising mostly raises funds for Hope House, a children’s hospice which provides palliative care for children with long-term or terminal conditions. Over the next year, the company hopes to raise a minimum of five thousand pounds to donate to the charity.
Next year Caldwell’s New York HQ will also set out a new set of global values, that will underline the company’s status as a global leader.
“These values will be shared and employed in all areas of the business and across the British and American branches of Caldwell. It’s important to retain consistent principles and standards even as we grow,” says company president and CEO, Eric Mertz.
The firm’s continuing expansion will mean an increase in jobs available. Indeed, Caldwell’s Coventry base is planning to strengthen its links with local universities in a bid to ensure that they recruit the very best people and maintain the high quality of their products and services.
